Baltimore Sailing Club in West Cork has raised more than €20,000 through its annual Golf Classic, with proceeds supporting the club's Fuller Sheds project and future sailing development.
Held at Skibbereen Golf Club on Saturday, 18 July, the fundraiser attracted golfers, sponsors, club members and supporters for a day of competition and community spirit under clear summer skies.
The event will make a significant contribution towards the purchase and ongoing development of the Fuller Sheds, a facility intended to strengthen the club's sailing programme and support future generations of sailors.
Baltimore Sailing Club thanked Skibbereen Golf Club for hosting the event and praised the support of sponsors, prize donors, tee-box sponsors, volunteers and competitors who contributed to its success.
Special recognition was given to organiser Adam Walsh, the organising committee and the many volunteers whose work before and during the event ensured the fundraiser ran smoothly.
Speaking after the Golf Classic, Baltimore Sailing Club Commodore Ruth Field said the result reflected the strength of support behind the club.
"To raise over €20,000 is an incredible achievement and a testament to the generosity of our sponsors, golfers, volunteers and supporters. The fantastic weather certainly added to the occasion, but it was the goodwill, enthusiasm and community spirit shown by everyone involved that made the day so special. We are immensely grateful to everyone who helped make the Golf Classic such a memorable success."
The funds will directly support the Fuller Sheds project, providing improved facilities for Baltimore Sailing Club members, visiting sailors and future generations.
The club said it looks forward to welcoming competitors and supporters back for next year's Golf Classic.
