A well-known one-design cruiser-racer has come on the market at €15,950.
Razzmatazz, a 1981 Sigma 33 OOD (IRL 4345), is described by the seller as “an excellent example… ready to go” with strong cruising comfort and race potential.
The boat has had extensive upgrades since 2020.
Rigging was renewed in 2022 by Mast & Rigging Ireland, including new shrouds, backstay and Dyneema halyards. Mast fittings and backing plates were also replaced.
Electronics were modernised with a B&G Vulcan V7 chartplotter and C-Map Reveal charts for the UK and Ireland. A Tacktick masthead wind instrument was fitted in 2022.
According to the seller, the 2014 Beta 25 engine has been fully serviced for 2025, with new oil and filter. A new wet exhaust and water pump were installed in recent seasons.
Underwater surfaces were soda blasted and epoxied in 2020, with Micron 350 antifoul applied annually since. Fresh antifoul is due before launch.
Sail inventory includes a 2022 UK Sailmakers racing mainsail, Team Dacron main and headsails, storm sails and a heavy spinnaker with snuffer.
Accommodation is described as dry and well-kept. Windows and hatch perspex have been replaced, and LED lighting fitted throughout.
Safety gear includes seven self-inflating lifejackets, a coastal flare pack (2022), horseshoe lifebuoys and jackstays.
The white-hulled cruiser-racer has had three previous owners. It is powered by a shaft-driven 25hp Beta diesel.
The boat is due to be polished and antifouled prior to sale.
The Sigma 33 was designed by British naval architect David Thomas and built by Marine Projects in Plymouth from 1979. Conceived as a strong one-design cruiser-racer, it quickly earned a reputation for balanced handling and offshore capability.
The class developed a particularly strong following in Ireland during the 1980s and 1990s, with active fleets in Dublin Bay and on the east coast racing both inshore and offshore events. Irish-owned Sigma 33s featured prominently in club championships and coastal races, valued for their durability, competitive one-design ethos and ability to double as practical family cruisers.
Many remain active today, reflecting the design’s enduring appeal.
