The 2026 Community Services Programme Open Call will be launched at Meitheal Mara in Cork on Monday, 30 March. The event will be led by Jerry Buttimer, Minister of State for Community Development, Charities and Rural Transport.

Proceedings begin at 1 pm at the Cork Community Boatyard in Crosses Green. A site tour will follow, ahead of formal speeches and a scheduled media photo opportunity.

Attendees will include public representatives, funders and sector stakeholders. Senior figures from Pobal and Meitheal Mara’s board, staff and volunteers are also expected.

Speakers include Jerry Murphy, Deputy CEO of Pobal, and Irene O’Callaghan, Development Coordinator. Marianne Keane, Chairperson of Meitheal Mara, and General Manager Isobel McKenna will also address attendees.

Minister Buttimer will join participants beside a traditional Irish currach built through programme support. Organisers say the moment will highlight the impact of community-led maritime initiatives.
