The International Council of Marine Industry Associations has announced the addition of the China Boat Industry & Trade Association (CBITA) as a Sustaining Member. CBITA will boost global cooperation in the marine trade sector and raise standards.
CBITA operates under the China Association of National Shipbuilding Industry and represents organisations across vessel design, manufacturing, maintenance and sales. The association is involved in sector planning, standards development and industry collaboration. It also provides training and supports market growth through research and policy input.
Recent work includes cooperation with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on yacht investment and manufacturing strategies. CBITA has also contributed to national and international standards. These include alignment with ISO small craft regulations and updates to safety and production frameworks.
ICOMIA Chief Executive Joe Lynch welcomed the move. “As an arm of CANSI, CBITA plays a vital role in ensuring the inclusion of China’s leisure marine industry in the country’s national maritime agenda,” he said. He added, “I warmly welcome CBITA on behalf of all ICOMIA members.”
ICOMIA said the partnership strengthens global industry links and supports coordinated growth across the recreational marine sector.
