All 37 crew members have been rescued after a cargo ship collided with a jet fuel tanker in the North Sea off Hull, England on Monday (10 March).

France 24 reports that both vessels were set ablaze in the incident that prompted a major multi-agency emergency response.

It’s understood that the MV Stena Immaculate, a tanker carrying jet fuel for the US military, was struck in its side by the Portugal-flagged container ship Solong while at anchor near Grimsby on Monday morning.

Greenpeace UK has said it is “too early to assess the extent of any environmental damage” in the wake of the incident, which caused a large quantity of jet fuel to leak into the water.
