Bristow Ireland says it has reached an agreement with trade union Unite on the terms and conditions for 40 search and rescue (SAR) helicopter engineers employed as part of the new Irish Coast Guard contract.
“The deal will see the experienced engineers currently employed by the incumbent operator adopt many of the roster and leave entitlements currently enjoyed by Bristow engineers in other parts of the company’s global operations,” Bristow has said.
“This is an important step in what will be a long-term, collaborative relationship with Unite and our new colleagues,” Bristow HR Director Emma Lawson said.
“These skilled and experienced individuals will be instrumental in delivering a lifesaving service for people and communities across Ireland,” she said.
“Now, as Bristow Ireland continues to assume responsibility for each SAR base over a managed transition period, they will become part of the Bristow Group, with new contracts, new rosters, and new leave entitlements,” she said.
“This agreement brings them into closer alignment with their engineering colleagues elsewhere in the global group,” Lawson continued.
She said that it “ensures the focus remains on delivering the highest standard of technical support and maintenance for the new fleet of specialist AW189 aircraft”.
“We are grateful for the professionalism of everyone involved, which allowed us to take this step together. We look forward to continuing this spirit of collaboration in the years ahead,” Lawson said.
