Aran Islands RNLI carried out a medical evacuation off Inis Mór on Monday morning (22 July).
The volunteer crew was requested to launch their all-weather lifeboat at 9:26 a.m., under Coxswain Aonghus Ó HIarnáin, following the Coast Guard's request that a sick patient be transferred off the island.
Weather conditions at the time were overcast, with slight seas and a force three south-westerly wind.
Arriving on the scene, the crew received a handover from the island doctor. The patient was safely transferred onboard the lifeboat under the crew's supervision, and the lifeboat then headed straight for Rossavel Harbour to the waiting ambulance.
Speaking following the call out, Aonghus Ó hIarnáin, Aran Islands RNLI Coxswain, said: ‘This was a good response time from the crew to get the patient on their way to the hospital quickly. We wish them a speedy recovery.’
