The Aran Islands RNLI responded to a distress call for a drifting speedboat off the Clare coast. The 18-foot vessel had engine trouble and carried four people on board.
The volunteer crew launched at 1:30pm after the Irish Coast Guard reported the situation. They reached the location shortly after 1:45pm.
Upon arrival, the crew assessed the four individuals, who were reported to be in good spirits. They were offered water due to the warm weather and lack of shelter.
Given the vessel's location, the RNLI decided to tow it to safety. A tow line was successfully established, and the boat was brought to Doolin Pier.
Aonghus Ó hIarnáin, Coxswain of the Aran Islands Station, stated, “Thanks to the quick actions of our crew, we ensured the safety of those on board. Always carry a means of calling for help when at sea.”
