Larne RNLI rescued three crew from a broken‑down fishing boat on 29 December.
The vessel lost engine power about eight nautical miles northeast of Larne.
HM Coastguard requested the launch at 12.03pm. The all‑weather lifeboat Dr John McSparran headed to the last reported position.
Weather was described as good, with smooth seas and an easterly breeze.
A passing fishing vessel was already holding the stricken boat off nearby rocks.
Coxswain Jack Healy said all crew were safe on arrival.
He confirmed engine failure was the cause of the breakdown.
A tow line was attached and the vessel taken to Ballylumford harbour.
At the harbour entrance the inshore lifeboat Terry took over the tow.
The inshore crew were helmed by Scott Leitch with Shea McFerran and Phil Ford‑Hutchinson.
All three casualties were returned safely to port.
“We would like to wish the crew well,” said Coxswain Healy. He thanked the passing fishing vessel for its assistance.
Healy stressed the importance of proper checks before going to sea. “Carry adequate tools and spares and ensure you have enough fuel,” he said.
