Coveney Steers Irish Defence Forces To Beaufort Cup Win in Harbour Race at Volvo Cork Week

With Simon Coveney TD on the helm, the Irish Defence Forces team skippered by Brian Matthews lead after two races sailed in Volvo Cork Week's inter-services Beaufort Cup. 

The eight-boat fleet returned to the water after Tuesday's finish of its 24-hour race around the Fastnet Rock, but it was the same story at the top of the leaderboard with Coveney steering the J109 Artful Dodjer to another win, this time in the celebrated Harbour Race. The Irish Defence Forces team are now on two points.

Lying second overall on five is the Crosshaven RNLI crew on the Grand Soleil 40, Nieulargo, with visitors US Sailing Patriot team third on the Beneteau First 40.7 Fandango on six points.
