Despite a course being set and DBSC Committtee Vessel Freebird ready to fire start guns off Dun Laoghaire, a series of strong gusts of over 25 knots at 10 am start time thwarted plans for race number four of Sunday's AIB DBSC Turkey Shoot Series on Dublin Bay.
The organisers hoped the strong south-westerly offshore winds and an ebbing tide would leave a relatively flat sea state for a short, sharp race off Dun Laoghaire, but the Race Officer decided to cancel racing when heavy winter gusts hit the course.
Overall, after three races sailed, the leader of the 72-boat series is the Oceanis 36i Calypso from Beneteau 31.7 Camira, with the 1976 vintage Club Shamrock Taiscealai lying third.

Racing continues next Sunday, December 1st.
