After last Sunday’s cancellation due to a complete lack of wind, organisers are confident the inaugural Kish Challenge will go ahead this Sunday (October 5th) on Dublin Bay.
As of 16:30 on Saturday (October 4th), Race Officer and organiser Cormac Bradley confirmed that the plan is still to run the event. Forecasts indicate that the strong winds brought by Storm Amy will ease sufficiently to make conditions viable.
“I have taken some soundings as to the forecast, which have been positive, so I am going to proceed on behalf of the 67 entries received,” Bradley told Afloat.
He also noted that, if necessary, “we can change the course or have a postponement in order to provide a race/cruise.”
The start sequence remains unchanged, with racers beginning at 11:00 am and cruisers starting between 11:15 and 11:30 am.
