Aurelia, ValenTina, ReQuest and Rockabill VI are among the entries for Sunday’s race and cruise.
Twenty-four boats had entered the Leisnter Boats sponsored Dún Laoghaire Motor Yacht Club’s 2026 Kish Challenge by Wednesday evening, ahead of the event on Sunday, 27 September.
The racing division is scheduled to start at 11am, while cruising boats have a starting window from 11.15am to 11.30am.
Winds for Sunday
XC Weather’s early forecast for Sunday suggests a southerly breeze of around 16mph at the 11am racing start, with gusts near 29mph. The wind is forecast to veer west-southwest and ease to around 13mph by early afternoon, then fall to about 7mph by 4pm. Light rain is possible around the start and early afternoon.
Familiar Boats Return
In a strong ISORA fleet showing, Chris Power Smith’s J/122 Aurelia is among the racing entries, along with Johnny Treanor’s J/112e ValenTina, Justin Burke’s JPK 10.30 ReQuest and Paul O’Higgins’ JPK 10.80 Rockabill VI. The latter is entered for the two-handed division.
The four boats have featured prominently in offshore and coastal racing. Aurelia won last year’s Kish Challenge by seven seconds on corrected time from ValenTina, with Rockabill VI third. ReQuest won the 2024 edition.
Other racing entries reported by DMYC include the Archambault A35 Pillaban, J/80 Jester, Beneteau First 34.7 Black Velvet, Beneteau First 31.7 Mayfly and Beneteau First 21.7 Polly. Five Shipman 28s are entered, four to race and one to cruise.
Cruising Entries
The cruising division includes the Contessa 32 Chatterbox, Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 36i Thinksys and Beneteau 35 Bendemeer, as well as a Hanse 342.
