Blue light and voluntary rescue services will participate in an “emergency services open day” which is being held as part of the “Coastival” festival in Dun Laoghaire.
Free guided tours of the Naval Service patrol ship LÉ George Bernard Shaw are planned as part of the open day on Sunday July 7th, which aims to highlight the work of the emergency services.
The “Coastival” festival hosted by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council runs from June 29th to July 7th.

The “emergency services open day” is open to the public in the ferry car park and compound from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the LÉ George Bernard Shaw berthed at Carlisle Pier.

Dun Laoghaire harbour master Capt Harry Duggan confirmed that members of the “blue light” and voluntary services will attend, and members of the Defence Forces School of Music will perform.
The RNLI’s Dun Laoghaire all-weather Lifeboat will also be open to tours.
Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council chief executive Frank Curran said the harbour is “ embarking on an exciting transformation that will pave the way for a vibrant and inclusive future”.
He said the Naval Service visits to Dún Laoghaire are “an important consideration within the harbour’s master plan.
“The visit of the LÉ George Bernard Shaw earlier this year proved hugely popular with locals and tourists alike and we anticipate an equally positive visit this month,”he said.
