Dun Laoghaire welcomed the Dutch Barquentine Thalassa on Monday evening (July 1), adding to the stunning presence of tall ships in the Dublin Bay harbour this week.

The Thalassa's arrival is part of its 2024 whiskey cruise programme, offering a 12-day cruise through Ireland, Scotland, England, and France from June 29th to July 10th.

Having been constructed in 1980, the Thalassa stands as one of the fastest vessels in the esteemed Dutch fleet. As Afloat reported earlier, this remarkable ship now shares the harbour with the Alvei, a three-masted square-rigged top sailor dating back to 1920, which has been berthed since last week.

Visitors of Dun Laoghaire can catch a glimpse of the Thalassa as she sits moored on berth two of the Carlisle Pier, a spot briefly occupied by the impressive superyacht Scout only hours before.
