Kinsale Yacht Club has officially launched its campaign to attract a world-class fleet to the 2025 Sovereigns Cup.

Set to run from Wednesday 25 to Saturday 28 June, the regatta will also host the ICRA Nationals under the direction of renowned PRO Anthony O’Leary.

One difference for 2025 is an afternoon start on the opening day to accommodate late arrivals, followed by early starts for the remaining days to maximise racing opportunities.

The club says it is committed to providing a fair test of sailing skill for all abilities, with varied course configuration — incorporating the Sovereign Islands and Old Head whenever possible — to give all well-sailed boats an equal chance to excel.

The Notice of Race and online registration will be available soon.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
