Nominations Open for IEA ShortSea Operator of 2012

#PORTS & SHIPPING – Nominations are been sought for the Irish Exporters Awards 2012, which is to be held in November and hosted by Irish Exporters Association (IEA).

The role of the export sector has never been more important, and among the 13 award categories the IEA is being supported by the Irish Maritime Development Office (IMDO) in the search for the Short Sea Shipping Company of the Year 2012, a key category in the National Export Industry Awards.

The competition is to recognize the outstanding achievement in the delivery of maritime services to and from Ireland, while highlighting the strategically significant role it plays to our island economy. At the gala awards ceremony on 23rd November, which will culminate when the Taoiseach will present the category winner, and the overall Exporter of the Year.

Applications for Short Sea Shipping Company of the Year 2011

The Irish Exporters Association (IEA) has linked up with the Irish Maritime Development Office (IMDO) in the search for the Short Sea Shipping Company of the Year 2011, a key category in the National Export Industry Awards.

The award scheme is for short-sea shipping companies who have successfully devised and supplied short sea shipping services to enable exporters reach markets in the UK and Europe was launched this week by John Whelan, Chief Executive of the IEA.

Organised by the IEA in conjunction with the IMDO, the competition recognises the outstanding achievements and innovative activity of Short Sea Shipping companies in supporting Irish export industry through efficient import processing as well as export processing services.

The awards search is to culminate with a gala awards ceremony held in the National Convention Centre in Dublin's docklands on 11th November.

Short Sea Shipping Company Competition Announced

The Irish Exporters Association (IEA) has linked up with the IMDO in the search for the Short Sea Shipping Company of the Year 2010, a key category in the annual National Export Industry Awards.

The annual awards are to be held in late November. Candidates are being sought for the award which is to recognise companies that have successfully devised and supplied short sea shipping services to enable exporters reach markets in the UK and Europe.

The Short Sea Shipping award is organsised by the Irish Exporters Association (IEA) in conjunction with the Irish Maritime Development Office (IMDO). The awards ceremony will culminate on 25 November when the Taoiseach will present the category winner, and the overall Exporter of the Year.

Dun Laoghaire Regatta 2023 Coastal Class

Two Irish hopes in the 2023 Fastnet Race from Cowes will compete first in a 20-boat Coastal Class at July's Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta (VDLR).

Pre-event favourites must be the First 50 Checkmate XX, fresh from Sovereign's Cup victory (three wins from four races sailed) and the Grand Soleil 44 Samatom.

Four races and one discard for the coastal division will be under International Race Officer Con Murphy.

The course will be decided on the race day and communicated to each skipper via a dedicated Offshore WhatsApp group at least one hour before the start.

The finish will be between the Pier Ends at the Dun Laoghaire Harbour entrance. The finishing time will be taken from the Yellowbrick tracker system.

The class will be the first to start on Thursday, with a warning signal at 1425 and 0955 on Friday. Coastal starts at 1055 on Saturday and 0955 on Sunday.

The course will use DBSC Marks, Volvo Yellow inflatable Top Hat and Shipping Navigation Marks.
