World Sailing has officially announced that Gdynia, Poland, will host the 2025 World Sailing Youth Match Racing World Championships. The event is set to take place from 21-27 July 2025, as part of the annual Gdynia Sailing Days festival.
Gdynia Marina, which will also host the 2027 World Sailing Championships, is preparing to welcome 16 teams—an increase from 12 in 2024. Participants will race using the RS21 keelboat, renowned for its one-design feature that promotes fair and tactical competition.
Jim Morris, Director of Events at World Sailing, expressed enthusiasm for the venue choice, stating that Gdynia is "Poland's sailing capital." He anticipates incredible racing and a diverse array of teams from around the globe.
Tomasz Chamera, the Championship Coordinator, highlighted the event as an opportunity for young sailors to compete at a high level and showcase their skills. He noted the commitment to fostering youth sailing and believes the event will provide a remarkable experience for all involved.
Eligible crews must consist of sailors under 23 years of age, including at least one male and one female member, with a total team weight limit of 350kg. The championship will feature five competitive rounds, culminating in a Grand Final to identify the top contenders.
