The French trimaran Tan 3 may have taken line honours yesterday (Tuesday) evening under the historic fortress of Muscat in the 360-mile race from Dubai out of the Gulf and through the Straits of Hormuz. And there may have been some large monohulls finishing close astern of her. But it was a group of midsized and small boats next in line which showed best in the conditions, and none showed better than the Mumm 30 Nagini chartered by Ronan Considine of Galway Bay SC.
It’s looking good. Nagini’s crew with a lot of boats astern in the 33rd Dubai Muscat Race as they sail down the Gulf on Saturday
Crewed by GBSC’s former Round Ireland winner Aodhan FitzGerald and clubmates Tom Murphy and Ruairi O Tuarisc, together with Mayo SC offshore veteran Louis Molloy, the Nagini team gave it everything through the last night to make a strong position stronger, and when they finished in the small hours of this morning, it was to find they’d won overall.
The Irish entry Nagini, a Mumm 30, was one of the smallest boats in the race.
As to the fact that some boats have been slightly penalized for sailing a short distance into Iranian waters that have been marked off as a War Zone, that’s the way it is with the Dubai-Muscat Race these days.
The West’s Awake…..the successful crew of Nagini in Muscat early this (Wednesday) morning.
The tracker says it - the overall RC result in the 2026 Dubai-Muscat Race gives it to Galway Bay Sailing Club
