Irish solo sailor Gráinne Costigan aboard her boat “Sea Fever” is expected to finish the Mini Transat 2025 around 19:00 GMT, with just 60 nautical miles remaining and maintaining a speed of 5.7 knots.
As of 06:30 GMT today, eight boats remain on the course. Dockside chatter suggests Costigan may have suffered damage to her bowsprit, which has restricted her use of a spinnaker and reduced her speed — the extent remains unconfirmed until arrival.
Of the original 90‑boat fleet, 87 are expected to complete the race. Two prototype vessels were abandoned at sea following severe damage, and a third withdrew after a critical repair couldn’t be completed in time.
Two “series” class boats also suffered mast damage but have jury rigs in place and anticipate finishing by 21 November.
Meanwhile, fellow Irish competitor Mark O’Connor remains without his mobile phone after a support‑boat diversion into Cape Verde; he is now expected in St Francis by Saturday.
In a separate development, Victor Le Roy (934 Douze Étoiles) has been penalised two hours after a race inspection. His time adjustment drops him from 12th to 16th place — leaving O'Connor's “Mini Skippy” unaffected, still in 20th.
Stay tuned for Costigan’s finish and full results once the fleet crosses the line.
