Eve McMahon is back in the lead after six races as she defends her U21 ILCA 6 World Championship title in Viana Do Castelo, Portugal.
McMahon is competing in Portugal, just weeks before she makes her Olympic debut in Paris 2024.
The Howth sailor took an early lead on Wednesday, winning both opening races, but lost out to Australia's Evie Saunders on day two. Friday, day three, saw the Irish youth star back in charge, scoring another race win in race five to be six points ahead of main rival Australia's Evie Saunders.
Saunders is now on 15 points and in second overall. Ginevra Caracciolo Di Brienza of Italy is third on 16. The results are below.
McMahon won the title last year in Tangier, Morocco, before securing Olympic Qualification for the ILCA 6 class.
The Irish Sailor of the Year is the only sailor in Viana who will be competing at both events this summer, indicating the depth of the HYC star's ambitions.
Fiachra McDonnell of the Royal St. George Yacht Club is lying 66th in the ILCA 7, and Tom Coulter of East Antrim Boat Club is 84th.
The sailors continue racing on Saturday.
