Close margins defined the opening round of the 1720 Super Series at the Royal Cork YC, with six boats completing eight races in steady conditions.

After one discard, Darkside, helmed by Brian Twomey, took overall honours on 17 points nett following a countback.

Hero & Villians, sailed by Gary Rhodes, and Probably Legal both finished on 18 points, underlining the competitive spread.

Fools Gold placed fourth on 19 points, ahead of Full Bernard on 26.

The MBSC club boat Goose, noted for its blue hull, completed the standings on 38 points.

Seven races counted from eight sailed under Appendix A scoring. One competitor remarked it was “the best day of the year yet”, with light winds and a relaxed onshore atmosphere, including a shoreside picnic.
