After a busy international season, there are some absences from the Irish 29er fleet, but Royal Cork YC's Oisin Pierse and Fionn Daly lead a nine-boat Irish 29er Class Association National Championships 2024 after three races sailed in Cork Harbour at Crosshaven.
Pierse and Daly scored 3,1,1 on the opening day races on Friday (August 16), in light to medium winds, to have a one-point margin over the National YC's William Walsh and Eoin Byrne on six points. Third is the RStGYC/BYC pairing of Emily Conan and Hannah Dadley-Young on 7.
Race Officer Ciaran McSweeney completed the full schedule despite delays due to shifting winds.
The championship is one of three this weekend at Royal Cork Yacht Club as part of the 'Tri Championships 2024', the other two being the Irish Fireball Class Association National Championships 2024 and the Irish 420 Class Association National Championship 2024.
