Continuing where they left off at the National Championships in Waterford Harbour earlier this month, Shane MacCarthy and Hugh McNally stormed into the lead of the Flying Fifteen East Coast Championships at the National Yacht Club on Dublin Bay on Saturday.
Taking three wins from three races in choppy seas and 15-knot northeasterly winds, the host club pairing are eight points clear at the top of the scoreboard. Lying second on 11 are Northern Ireland's Trevor D'Arcy and Alan McClernon from Carrickfergus Sailing Club. Three points further back in the 29-boat fleet are Connemara's Niall O'Brien and Ronan O Briain on 14.
Racing continues on Sunday with three more races scheduled.
