Light air experts Ger Owens and Melanie Morris secured day one honours at the 2025 GP14 Irish National Championships hosted by Rush Sailing Club on Friday (August 22nd). The Wicklow SC duo finished tied on points with local sailors Colman Grimes and Ross Gingles but claimed victory on countback.
Lack of wind delayed the start of the championships, and when the wind arrived, two general recalls further delayed proceedings off the North Dublin coast.
Defending champions Ross Kearney and Daniel Nelson of RNIYC are placed third overall.
Moville Boat Club's John McGuinness and Donal McGuinness lie fourth. Fifth spot went to William Evans and David Draper of Univela Sailing Centre.
Keith and Mateo Louden of LFYC are sixth. Adam and Emily Torrens, representing NSC/LEYC, follow in seventh.
In eighth place is Patrick O’Connor and Richard Street of Sligo YC. Rob Lee and Stephen Lynch from Greystones Sailing Club are ninth.
Hugh Gill and Peter Boyle, sailing for Sutton Dinghy Club, rounded out the top ten.
