Kinsale Yacht Club's dominance of the national Squib scene continues at Lough Derg Yacht Club's Freshwater One Design Keelboat Regatta this weekend, with Micheal O'Suilleabhain and Michael O'Sullivan leading by a point after four races sailed by a point from Gordon Patterson and Ross Nolan from Royal Northern Ireland Yacht Club on five.

The O'Sullivans won races three and four in medium conditions at Terryglass in County Tipperary, one of three KYC boats in the top four overall in an exceptional turnout of 44 boats for the end-of-season fixture.

Dragons, SB20s, and Flying Fifteens are also competing on the second-largest lake in the Republic of Ireland, but none of these fleets make double figures this year.

KYC's Shaun Kingston, Tony Kingston and Donal Small lead a three-boat Dragon fleet while Flying Fifteen National Champions Shane MacCarthy and Hugh McNally of the National Yacht Club are one point ahead in a nine-boat fleet. Rory Walsh of the Lough Ree Yacht Club leads a four-boat SB20 fleet.

Racing continues on Sunday.
