A final race win secured the Irish Squib title for UK visitors Tom Jeffcoate and Mark Hogan at Lough Derg Yacht Club in County Tipperary on Sunday.

The Abersoch duo sailing number 136, Ric O'Shea, concluded the championship with 22 points, leapfrogging defending champions Michael O'Suilleabhain and Michael O'Sullivan of Kinsale Yacht Club (KYC), who had led after five races, on the final day.

Finishing third in the 42-boat fleet was the Royal North of Ireland's Dogwatch, sailed by Ross Kearney and Terry Rowan with 28 points.

It's not the first time Jeffcoate and Hogan have lifted the Chris Hogan Memorial Trophy, either; the pair won three years ago when KYC hosted the championship.
