The AIB DBSC Water Wag race on Wednesday, September 3rd, saw a record 34 boats turning out for the Captain’s prize race at Dun Laoghaire Harbour.
Class Captain Tim Pearson made the call for all boats to reef. Race Officer Tadgh Donnelly aboard DBSC’s Corinthian race committee vessel set a three-round windward/leeward course in a showery westerly breeze averaging 10 knots with strong gusts, particularly at the start.
Sean and Heather Craig sailing Puffin led at the first weather mark and extended their lead to finish by a considerable margin from Sphinx, sailed by Rian Geraghty-McDonnell and MJ Geraghty, who had very close racing with Adam Winkelmann and Sheena Bowers sailing Mademoiselle and exchanged second and third places throughout the race.
