Tuesday 27th August saw the sun set on last Tuesday's AIB DBSC night racing for ILCAs.
Deciding to race in the harbour due to the forecast and drawing in of evening light allowed RO Declan Traynor to get two great races away.
In the ILCA 7, wins from Ross O’Leary and Theo Lyttle were not enough to deny a consistent Murphy of the overall title. Judy O’Beirne won the first ILCA 6 race, meaning even though Michael Norman won the second, he could not deny her the season title.
Talk afterwards in the dinghy park confirmed the new Tuesday night formula of racing further into the bay to avail of steadier breezes and more waves. Together with an effort to get two shorter races rather than one long, the move has proved popular.
Saturday racing resumes for the dinghies on August 31st with a 5-week Series 2.
