The second cruiser race of the Frank Godsell March Series at Kinsale Yacht Club has been cancelled due to strong wind forecasts.

After last weekend’s lively opening race on Sunday, March 8, competitors had been preparing for the second round of the popular keelboat league on March 15.

Four handicap fleets contested the opening race of the 2026 series, producing tight corrected-time results and setting the tone for the early stages of the league.

However, deteriorating weather conditions forced organisers to call off the next race.

Race officer Michele Kenneally confirmed the decision in a notice to competitors.

“Unfortunately, due to the adverse weather forecast, including gusts of 35 kt, the Vice Commodore and I have decided to cancel all racing tomorrow, Sunday 15 March,” Kenneally said.

The March Series is one of Kinsale Yacht Club’s early-season keelboat leagues and regularly attracts a strong turnout across several handicap fleets.
