The vagaries of the weather forced the abandoning of the last racing day of the season at Monkstown Bay on Saturday. This time it was lack of breeze, so the standing results decided the final positions in the well-supported October League.

It has been a good season overall for the club with strong support for dinghy racing.

The Cork Harbour club has a variety of classes racing, a good membership base and strong interest from young sailors.

"The future of sailing in the harbour is looking very good," according to the club. "We had encouraging entry levels and participation in dinghy racing throughout the Summer season."

The final event of the season, the October League, had an entry of 21 boats in Class One, which was won by Ronan Kenneally, with Richard Harrington second and Brendan Dwyer third. All three sailed Laser 7s. Class 2 winner were Harry Coole and Jack Ryan, sailing an RS Feva XL.

Commodore Jacqui O'Brien presented prizes at the laying-up supper on Saturday and announced that Laser stalwart of the club, Davy O'Connnell, had been chosen as the overall club Sailor of the Year, for which he was awarded the MSC Rose Bowl.
