Monkstown Bay Sailing Club in Cork Harbour has announced a new team of Flag Officers to lead the club into its 2026 season. The appointments follow the recent AGM at the clubhouse overlooking Monkstown Bay.

Ewen Barry takes over as Commodore. David Doherty becomes Vice Commodore, with Sandy Rimmington appointed Rear Commodore.

Barry thanked the outgoing committee for what he described as a year of strong activity and engagement across the club. He said members and volunteers had helped make the club “a vibrant and welcoming place for all”.

The club reports success for its sailors at local, national and international levels across several classes during 2025. Both junior and adult sailors have been representing Monkstown Bay Sailing Club at events around Ireland and abroad.

For 2026, the sailing calendar will include an Optimist Sprint Event and the Fireball Munster Championships. A full programme of dinghy and junior sailing is also planned.

The refreshed clubhouse and bar are set to act as a social hub for members and visiting sailors. The club says it aims to serve the wider Monkstown community as well as active racers.

Monkstown Bay Sailing Club is inviting new members to join, from experienced sailors to complete beginners. Further details and contact information are available at the club website, www.mbsc.ie
