A National Yacht Club cruising group in Dun Laoghaire has unveiled an extensive programme of events for the coming season, with bank holiday cruises, social gatherings and sailing suppers planned throughout the year.
Members are currently being asked to indicate their interest and preferred destinations to help organisers finalise arrangements.
Attention is focused on the June bank holiday weekend cruise, described as a flexible voyage titled “Wherever the wind takes us”.
Organisers say the destination will be decided closer to the time, taking account of weather forecasts and member preferences.
Last year’s attempt to sail to the Isle of Man was altered due to conditions, but alternative destinations proved popular among participating crews.
The season begins with a cruise to Greystones over the May bank holiday weekend from 2–4 May, with a €10 per-person charge.
A second bank holiday cruise from 30 May to 1 June will run over three days and two nights, with the final destination dependent on wind and weather conditions.
The programme also includes a cruise to Wicklow on 20–21 June to coincide with the start of the Round Ireland Yacht Race.
Further destinations planned during the season include visits to Howth and Lambay Island, while members will also gather for the Bray Airshow on 1 August.
In September, sailors will take part in the traditional Three Bridges event with the Cruising Association of Ireland.
Social events are also scheduled, including the group’s AGM and barbecue in October, followed by sailing suppers later in the year.
Plans are also being explored for a group visit to the Düsseldorf Boot Show in January 2027.
Organisers say a three-day trip could include flights, accommodation, boat show tickets and a visit to Classic Remise Düsseldorf if sufficient interest is shown.
Members have been asked to submit details of their boat, crew numbers and preferred destinations to assist with planning the programme.
