While there may be some way to go before every Irish school pupil is Constitutionally-entitled to an annual week of sailing experience in the way that they are in France, nevertheless the month of March saw impressive turnouts by school team for Provincial championships, with the Munster Title at Schull seeing 15 teams and 90 young sailors competing under the direction of Race Officer John Corkery and his team.
As Schull Community College provides sailing way beyond the French expectation, they did rather dominate the proceedings, and out of their talented squads Schull Sharks accepted the winning trophies.
