Four coastal rowers from Wicklow remain on track to break the record for the fastest unsupported row around Ireland.

The Row Hard or Go Home team — comprising Diarmuid Ó Briain, Tom Nolan, Mick Dowling and Cormac Conroy — set out from Baltimore in the early hours of 18 June to raise funds for Rathdrum Cancer Support and Vartry Rowing Club Wicklow.

Ó Briain and Nolan are no strangers to such adventures as they were part of the five-man team that set a record for the fastest Atlantic crossing in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge in January 2023.

The current Irish best time stands at 32 days, and with the quartet currently at anchor off Lambay Island — beyond the halfway point — they’re well on their way to smashing the record.

For more, see their GoFundMe page and track the progress of their boat Liberty.
