UCD Win Thriller at Irish Rowing Championships

14th July 2018

#Rowing: UCD won the intermediate eights after a thrilling race at the Irish Rowing Championships at the National Rowing Centre. Four boats disputed the lead as the race passed the boathouse. Cork Boat Club, Trinity and Commercial all overlapped UCD, but the Dublin college came through to win by just under a second from Cork.

Molly Curry (16) of Coleraine Grammar School won the women’s junior single sculls after a battle with Aoibhinn Keating of Skibbereen, and Queen’s overtook UCD to win the women’s novice eight. The men’s junior coxed four gave Enniskillen a chance to stamp their authority, with a good win, while Fintan O’Driscoll of Carlow was also in charge in his win in the club single sculls.

Skibbereen added to their growing tally of titles by taking the women’s intermediate double.
