A decision by Louth County Council to grant planning permission in Greenore for the construction of a support base site (c. 4.88 hectares) for future offshore wind arrays in the Irish Sea has been appealed to An Bord Pleanála.
In December, the Greenore Port Unlimited Company was granted planning permission for a 10-year permission development at Greenore Port, Ireland’s only privately owned port. In addition, the port on Carlingford Lough was granted on the site of a dwelling house on the Shore Road, Greenore.
The planned development, writes Dundalk Democrat, comprises an Operation and Maintenance (O&M) wind turbine facility that would serve as the support base for future offshore wind array projects along the east coast. As Afloat reported last month, the O&M facility was granted planning permission
The development in Greenore Port, owned by Doyle Shipping Group (DSG), includes three standalone buildings, comprising warehouse space, office space, and plant, welfare, storage, ancillary, and circulation space. Each of the units ranges from 7.2 m in height for the warehouse to 13.5 m maximum for an office with a three-storey element.
