Irish ports, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO), handled a total of 12.9 million tonnes of goods in the first quarter of 2025. The latest figures released show this is an increase of 7% when compared with the same quarter last year.
The CSO’s ‘Statistics of Port Traffic Quarter 1 2025’ showed that goods forwarded from Irish ports amounted to four million tons. Goods received involved nine million tons, which took place during the first three months of the year.
For the first time, Greenore Port in Co. Louth, which is owned by the Doyle Shipping Group, met the CSO’s criteria to be included as a main statistical port in the latest three-month period under review.
