A farm‑project, a men’s boxing club, and a swimming scheme for autistic children are among 16 Northern Ireland community groups awarded a share of £63,000 by Belfast Harbour.

The funds come from the second round of its 2025 Community Awards, which offers grants up to £5,000 per project.

The funded initiatives focus on mental health, social inclusion, sustainability, and employability skills. Among them are a community‑farm wellbeing scheme, a boxing and wellbeing programme for older men, and an autism‑friendly swimming programme paired with assistance dogs.

Last spring’s first round distributed £50,000, bringing the total 2025 contribution over £100,000. Since 2021, Belfast Harbour has provided more than £450,000 to almost 150 grassroots and community groups across Northern Ireland.

Jenni Barkley, Communications and Community Engagement Manager at Belfast Harbour, said: “Behind every award is a story of local impact, of people coming together to help make their communities stronger and more resilient; creating connection, and opportunities where they are needed most.”

She added the variety of successful applications “reflects the diversity and vitality of the region’s community sector.”

Details of the 2026 round of the Community Awards will be announced next spring.
