Two Irish women have been repatriated from a cruise liner at the centre of a hantavirus outbreak.
According to RTÉ News, the women were flown back to Ireland on Sunday (10 May) on an Air Corps aircraft after disembarking the MV Hondius in Tenerife.
One of the two, Ann Lane, previously spoke of her shock last month upon learning of the death of a man on board the vessel, as well as two other deaths linked to the southern polar voyage.
The Interim Chief Medical Officer told RTÉ’s Morning Ireland that the women are “in good health” and are currently quarantined at a HSE facility until early June.
Prof Mary Horgan added: “This is not Covid, this is not influenza, this is not a pandemic and I think that’s very important for the public to know.”
