In a notable achievement, Drogheda Port Company has won an award at the 33rd annual Business to Arts Awards. The event was held at the National Concert Hall and celebrated collaborations between the business and arts sectors.
Drogheda Port and artist Emily McCormack received the Jim McNaughton/TileStyle Trophy for their project 'Brig Manley'. This commission tells the story of a 1871 shipwreck, using McCormack's artwork and music by SJ McArdle.
As Afloat reported previously, the unveiling took place on Mornington Beach, the site of the wreck, and featured a live performance of the song 'Brig Manley'. The judges praised the project for its blend of heritage, storytelling, and community engagement.
Paul Fleming, CEO of Drogheda Port, commented, “We are delighted to have been recognised for Drogheda Port Company's long-standing support of the arts.” He further noted the exceptional contribution of artist Emily McCormack.
Louise O'Reilly, Chief Executive of Business to Arts, stated, “What we celebrate tonight is far more than sponsorship — it is shared vision and shared value.” The awards highlight how creativity, backed by business, can lead to social impact and community inclusion.
