A public New Year’s Eve fireworks display is set to take place at Dún Laoghaire Harbour on Wednesday, 31 December 2025, as part of New Year’s Festival Dublin, organisers have said.
MCD Productions, producing the event on behalf of Fáilte Ireland, said the fireworks will begin at 7.00 pm and run for approximately 11 minutes, accompanied by a musical soundtrack and additional entertainment.
The display is free, non-ticketed, and open to all ages, according to the organisers, who said a mix of stewards and licensed security, in consultation with An Garda Síochána, will be in place to manage crowd safety.
Pier closures and access restrictions
The fireworks will be staged from the East Pier, with several access restrictions in place:
- Upper East Pier: closed from 6.00 am on 30 December until 8.00 am on 2 January
- Lower East Pier: closed from 6.00 am on 31 December until 12.00 am on 1 January
- West Pier: closed to the public from 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm on 31 December
Traffic, transport and facilities
Temporary traffic restrictions are expected between 6.00 pm and 7.30 pm on Queen’s Road, Windsor Terrace, Park Road, Link Road, Ballygihen Avenue, Newtownsmith, Marine Parade, and surrounding roads.
Organisers said there will be no additional event parking, advising attendees to use public transport, with additional DART and bus services to facilitate travel. Local residents who plan to attend are advised to walk where possible.
Additional public toilets will be provided and supervised, and extra litter pickers will be deployed to manage waste, organisers said. Local bars and restaurants are expected to operate as normal.
Advice for pet owners and contact details
Residents are asked to keep pets indoors where possible during the display. Information on animal safety around fireworks is available from the Dog Trust and Blue Cross websites.
A local contact number (083 0318093) will be available for event-day enquiries between 12 noon and 9.00 pm. Outside those hours, organisers said queries can be emailed to [email protected]
The event is weather-dependent and may be cancelled at short notice, with updates expected via public announcements. Further information is available at nyfdublin.ie and mcd.ie/news.
