The award-winning sailing superyacht Perseverance I has made a brief call to Dún Laoghaire Harbour, adding to a growing succession of international superyachts visiting the Irish port during the 2026 season.
The distinctive Malta-flagged yacht was photographed departing Dún Laoghaire on Friday morning (September 11th), with AIS information showing her heading south for Falmouth.
Dún Laoghaire Marina described Perseverance I on social media as the “latest visitor to our superyacht dock”, adding: “What a sight for the harbour!”
At approximately 36 metres, Perseverance I was built by Finland's Baltic Yachts and launched in 2021. The Dykstra-designed yacht was named Sailing Yacht of the Year at the 2022 World Superyacht Awards.
Growing Dún Laoghaire Traffic
Her brief visit is the latest in what has become a notable season for large international yachts calling at Dún Laoghaire.
As previously reported by Afloat, visiting yachts this summer have included the 53-metre Mirage, 52.4-metre Big Eagle and 45-metre explorer yacht Latitude.
The succession of calls is also providing further evidence for the case that Ireland could attract a greater share of the international superyacht cruising market.
Afloat highlighted the opportunity in August, particularly the potential economic benefits if visiting yachts can be encouraged to stay longer and spend locally on berthing, provisioning, marine services, maintenance, transport and hospitality.
The opportunity is not confined to Dublin Bay. Bantry Bay has also been promoted as a potential superyacht destination, including in connection with increased international traffic expected around the 2027 Ryder Cup in County Limerick.
While individual visits can be brief, the growing number of calls suggests Ireland is already appearing on more superyacht cruising itineraries.
The challenge for Irish ports and harbours is how to turn those calls into longer stays — and a greater economic return ashore.
