Ireland's first floating sauna has been officially launched at Dún Laoghaire Harbour, adding a new wellness attraction to one of Ireland's busiest maritime destinations.
The floating facility was opened by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Leas-Cathaoirleach Pierce Dargan and begins welcoming customers from 30 May.
As Afloat previously reported, located on Dublin Bay, the sauna combines traditional heat therapy with a cold plunge pool and direct access to the harbour environment. It is the first floating sauna of its kind in Ireland and adds to the growing popularity of sea swimming and outdoor wellness activities along the coast.
Speaking at the launch, Cllr Dargan said the project represented another way of connecting people with the harbour and the water.
He welcomed the partnership between Helios Sauna and harbour staff that brought the project to fruition and highlighted the importance of introducing new amenities that encourage greater public use of the waterfront.
The new attraction is expected to appeal to both local residents and visitors seeking a sea-based wellness experience in Dún Laoghaire.
The launch reflects continuing efforts to broaden the harbour's recreational offering, which already includes sailing, rowing, paddle sports, swimming and walking routes around Dublin Bay.
