A specialist offshore support vessel that Afloat previously identified as the platform for the Codling Wind Park site investigations has arrived in Dún Laoghaire Harbour.
The MV C-Trojan, operated by Orkney-based Leask Marine, was photographed alongside after making the journey from Scotland ahead of the offshore survey campaign.
As Afloat reported last month, the vessel is scheduled to undertake geotechnical investigations at the proposed Codling Wind Park site off the Dublin and Wicklow coasts. The programme includes cone penetration testing and vibrocore sampling to gather detailed information on seabed conditions for the project's engineering design.
The survey campaign is expected to run between early August and early September, subject to weather and operational requirements.
Built by Damen as a 30.17-metre Multicat 3113 DP1, C-Trojan is designed for a wide range of offshore support roles, including survey operations, anchor handling, towing, subsea support and marine construction.
Its Dynamic Positioning (DP1) capability enables the vessel to maintain a precise position while carrying out offshore operations, making it well suited to geotechnical and survey work.
The vessel's arrival is another visible sign of increasing offshore marine activity around the Irish coast as major renewable energy infrastructure projects move from planning into site investigation and development.
