Summer is here, and so are the duty-free day trips offered by Irish Ferries on its routes to Wales, with foot-passenger return fares starting at €10 for adults and €5 for children.

The duty-free day trips are available on the Irish Sea routes of Dublin-Holyhead and Rosslare-Pembroke.

Day trippers from Dublin can take the cruise ferry Ulysses, which operates the 3-hour, 30-minute sailings. In addition to the seasonally operated high-speed craft, Dublin Swift, which takes just 2 hours 15 minutes.

Those taking the day trips from Rosslare to Pembroke are operated by the cruise ferry Isle of Innisfree with a sailing time of 4 hours.

Fares are based on cruise ferry sailings (noting a supplement applies to Dublin Swift sailings) to Holyhead and are subject to availability. Note that on certain evening sailings from Holyhead, they are not available.

Bookings must be made 24 hours in advance of travel and be booked by 29 June. Fares are available for travel up to 30th June 2025. On-the-day bookings are charged at the standard fare price.

Further information on sailing times and all terms and conditions can be found on the company’s website.

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
