Minister Dooley acknowledged the challenges facing the seafood industry. “The presence of Commissioner Kadís today reflects the Commission’s understanding of these challenges,” he stated.
He also highlighted recent EU-UK negotiations that secured reciprocal fishing access. “This outcome is hugely important for the sector,” he said.
European Maritime Day 2025 is co-organised by Cork City Council, the Government of Ireland, and the European Commission. It aims to unite leaders and the public around maritime sustainability.
Minister Dooley urged the public to participate: “I encourage everyone to come to Cork this Saturday.”
He noted the Department's role in showcasing Ireland’s seafood and marine sectors. “More importantly, it’s a chance for the public to witness our commitment to sustainability,” he concluded.
