The International Council of Marine Industry Associations has confirmed Shanghai as the host of the 2027 World Marinas Conference. The event will run from 30 March to 2 April 2027 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Centre. It marks the first time the conference will be staged in mainland China.

The announcement follows the 2025 edition held in Venice. ICOMIA said the move reflects growing global interest in Asia’s marine sector and waterfront development.

The conference, launched in Amsterdam in 1993, is regarded as a leading forum for marina planning, design and operations. It has previously taken place in cities including Genoa, Fort Lauderdale, Sydney, Singapore and Dubai. A launch event was held in Shanghai on 29 March 2026, bringing together industry stakeholders and suppliers.

ICOMIA Chief Executive Joe Lynch said, “Shanghai is the ideal stage for the 2027 conference. It is a gateway for international investment and a springboard for Chinese enterprises.” He added that the event would help align regional marina standards with global best practice.

Shanghai Sinoexpo Informa Markets is co-hosting the conference. Jeff Feng said, “Shanghai is a city where integrated waterfront development is becoming a reality. Hosting the conference will elevate its global yachting profile.”

Organisers said the programme will focus on marina development, sustainability, technology and policy challenges. Delegates are expected to examine opportunities across China and the wider Asian market.
