Captain Says Maritime Cadet Programme in Isle of Man Can Open 'So Many Doors'

A total of 12 teenagers in the Isle of Man next month will participate in a cadet programme.

There's a shortage of people in the maritime sector on the island, according to Captain Lee Clarke.

He is also the General Manager of Isle of Man Maritime, which recently held a Maritime Careers Fair and their first ever Maritime Conference.

Speaking to the Manx Radio, he said like any other sector on the island, maritime is struggling.

The teenagers next month will take part in the Tall Ship Initiative, which is aimed at growing the maritime sector and encouraging young people to consider a career in sailing.
