Maritime Careers Fair & Maritime Expo – Isle of Man, 20th July

On the following day, the 3rd Maritime Career Fair & Expo on Saturday, 20 July, is when visitors can meet and discuss with the broad range of the sector’s businesses, organisations and college courses.

In addition to the inaugural Isle of Man Maritime Conference on Friday, 19 July, as Afloat previously reported, is to be followed on the next day with the 3rd Maritime Careers Fair & Maritime Expo.

The free careers /expo event on Saturday, 20 July will take place in Douglas (between 11:00 to 15:00) at the Villa Marina’s Promenade and Colonnade Suites.

To discover new opportunities at sea and ashore in the maritime sector, the event is open to school children, school leavers, graduates, and adults looking for a change in career.

The careers fair will provide an opportunity for attendees to meet with member firms of Isle of Man Maritime, who work in this diverse sector. This event also enables visitors to discuss the variety of roles and opportunities available to those considering a career in the maritime sector.

Also attending will be maritime training centres that will be coming to the Isle of Man and will be able to highlight and talk about the various pathways available for those interested in a career at sea.

The following are those representing the industry career fair: Royal Navy, Fleetwood Nautical College, Just Be Maritime (Trinity House), Shell Ship Management, Carnival UK, Isle of Man Ship Registry (IOMSR), Isle of Man Harbours, Ocean Web, BSM Ship Management, UCM, Isle of Man Sea Cadets, King Georges Fund for Sailors, and the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company.

Also, there will be new attendees: Royal Fleet Auxiliary, AW Crewing, Princess Cruises, BP Maritime, Douglas Bay Yacht Club, Imarest / Royal Institute of Naval Architects and EyeSea.

The Isle of Man boasts an extensive range of maritime organisations and this event, will provide opportunities to meet them, and the event is a platform to highlight the remarkable work done by the RNLI, Harbours, Coastguard, and Yacht Clubs.

Both events are organised by Isle of Man Maritime, which is a not for profit organization, formed to develop, support, and promote the Island’s growing maritime sector.
